We have seen so many projects where the entrepreneur is all fired-up and full of their own self-belief that they read an article or two online, maybe a book and then think they are ready to get that investment.

Very, very occassionally a venture is just so attractive and ahead of the curve that money chases them.  Of course these are the stories we read in the media and in books, because they are the rare success stories.  Who wants to read about the other 95% of ventures that either struggle and build slowly over time, or struggle, struggle and never get anywhere?  Noone wants to watch those movies.

Oh and I almost certainly cannot tell you how to do your job, even if I had a crack at something similar a few years ago.  Likewise, be wary of ‘advisers’ that want to tell you how to do equity finance raises in the world’s most regulated market, with a small and tough investor mindset, just because they have a crack at them every few years, give or take.

Success Probability Assessment

How much time, money and effort would it save the majority of SMEs making an equity offer if they could get an independent and impartial assessment of their probability of successfully raising that capital, before they spend that time, money and effort?

Well the answer is on average it can save $95,000 and 12 months of effort because the majority of capital raising efforts are fruitless and carry a high cost.  Often failure could have been avoided.

Pre-Qualified Tax Exempt Investment

Historically, SME equity offerors have been mostly order takers with regard to possible tax incentives from their investment.  That puts them in the worst negotiating position.  Knowledge gives power, which again makes them order makers, strengthening their negotiating powers.

Once you have a great investment offering to take to the world make sure that you have pre-qualified that offering for tax exemption status.

Actually, don’t even wait for the offer to be completed, take control and have the edge for talking to potential investors.

SMVCF Certified

Once the SME offering is Pre-qualified Tax Exempt Investment status they may then proceed to full SMVCF Certified status.

SMVCF Certification from Lellco grants the offer issuer to promote this certification, inclusive of the investment being Pre-qualified Tax Exempt Investment, to potential investors for marketing and sales purposes.

SMVCF Certified offers will be noted as both Pre-qualified Tax Exempt Investment, and SMVCF Certified on their AuSMEquity listing.
